Ceramics, Illustrations, & Jewelry from This Many Boyfriends Club

This Many Boyfriends Club is a collective of like-minded womxn artists in Philadelphia. The members all used to work together and bonded through the collective experience of leaving a toxic work environment and joining together to support each other. Working in ceramics, glass, illustration and more, the members of this group create pieces both individually and collaboratively. They each bring a unique perspective to their practice and ultimately desire to continue to do so while supporting other artists in their community. They are vocally anti-sexist, anti-racist and pro human rights and desire to use art as a way to promote these ideals whenever possible.

The “Cosmic Sparkle theory” is a collection of ideas related to the concept of time being non-linear and the cycle of material existence. Learning to accept loss as part of life and death as a transformation of matter rather than a true end to something. By embracing these ideas, one can simultaneously let go of personal attachments and find comfort in the idea that nothing is ever truly lost. Mythology and storytelling has always been an important part of communicating these ideas throughout time, so by referencing these stories we become connected with the past and place them in a personal context.
