Live Performance by The Lauren Hart Band
The Hope & Fury concert series continues, on Friday, October 5th from 6:30pm – 9pm, starting with a spoken word performance by Blake Melvin and a live musical performance by the Lauren Hart Band!
This month, we’ll be kicking off with a lively discussion about gun safety, hosted by Helen Leicht, Assistant Program Director and Midday Host, at WXPN. Panel guests include, Singer-Songwriter, Lauren Hart, Executive Director of Ceasefire PA, Shira Goodman, and Interim Supervisor of Victim Services at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Movita Johnson-Harrell.
Donations for the evening benefit CeaseFirePA, a statewide organization working with mayors, police chiefs, faith leaders, community organizations, and individual Pennsylvanians to take a stand against gun violence.
About the Band:
Always known for her introspective lyrics and soaring vocals, Lauren Hart’s songs have been heard far and wide on national television series and soap operas and documentary. Perhaps best known for her rendition of the National Anthem, Lauren sings before every Philadelphia Flyers home game, a tribute to her late father, legendary National Hockey League Hall of Fame announcer Gene Hart.
Throughout her career she’s had the pleasure of sharing the stage with Bill and Hillary Clinton, as well as renounce musicians such as Stan Getz, the Gipsy Kings, Harry Belafonte, Frank Sinatra, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Train and 10,000 Maniacs. Lauren has recorded 6 albums and is releasing her 7th album, America Women, at the La Colombe Hope & Fury event.
Lauren’s passion for music is matched only by her passion for the charitable organizations she is committed to, including Mom’s Demand Action, Everytown for Gun Safety, The International Justice Mission and the Gene Hart Memorial Fund where she helps oversee college scholarships and contributions to cancer research and patients.
Blake Melvin is a traveling spoken word artist from West Philadelphia. Blake uniquely blends conversational prose, hip hop cadences with a one man show stage presence. A featured poet, self published author, #freethinker and a #rawartist Blake is one to keep an eye on with this new class of emerging poets.
About the Charity:
CeaseFirePA is a statewide organization working with mayors, police chiefs, faith leaders, community organizations, and individual Pennsylvanians to take a stand against gun violence. Through outreach, education, coalition building, and advocacy, we work to reduce gun violence and gun tragedies in our communities, stop the flow of illegal guns onto our streets, and keep guns out of the hands of people who should not have them.
