Wisdom Series: The Happiness Hunt| 6-8 pm

They say that the fun is in the game. Who can resist the delights of the pursuit – the thrills of a work-party lifestyle, living for the weekend and those happy hour specials? Seeking the wonder of the next connection, our minds contemplate – who will I meet next? Diving into the culture of a “right here, right now” mentality, we sometimes find ourselves caught in the middle of a hunt that never seems to end. At what cost do we relentlessly pursue the mirage ahead? Wandering the forest of our hopes and dreams, we desire more than to survive – our hearts long to thrive. Join us for an evening of transformation as we unravel the mystery of the modern-day hunt and provide a key, one found within the ancient texts of yoga wisdom, which has the power to unlock the secrets of lasting happiness.

October First Friday features two local artists Nicole Saltzer & Justine Kelley

Nicole is a Philadelphia based artist and printer. She started printing four years ago while living in Tennessee, making posters and t-shirt designs for local bands. After moving back to Philadelphia, she continued designing and printing for bands as well as developing her own brand under the name IKKI. Often found in her work are themes of travel, affection and emotional balance with the use of swift and expressive line work and hand-drawn lettering. Nicole has begun to take her new work on the road, showing in galleries and vending art markets outside of the city and hopes to continue such travels in the future.

Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST), a program of The Center for Emerging Visual Artists, offers a behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of a visual artist. This October, explore hundreds of artist studios and community partner spaces in more than twenty Philadelphia neighborhoods and see the artistic process unfold right in your own backyard.

POST, the largest open studio tours in the region, spotlights the vitality of Philadelphia’s visual arts scene and underscores the important contributions artists make to our city’s economic and civic life. Great for all ages, this citywide festival features studio visits, hands-on demos, workshops, artist talks, receptions, exhibitions and more—all through an approachable and easy-to-navigate, self-guided tour.

Open studios in and around our neighborhood!
