– Find out how easy it is for YOU to get a team together and build a glorious vehicle to ride in the Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby.
– Learn the ins-and-outs of costume design and make YOURSELF your sculpture! Learn your way around a hot-glue gun and get tips on sewing and outfit construction.
– After the workshop is the after-party! Specials on PBC beer at National Mechanics. 22 S 3rd St (3:30-5:30PM)

Tucked away on Arch St near the Delaware is one of the coolest, hippest galleries you will find in Old City.  Anyone who is been to first friday in Old City will tell you fresh contemporary art is few and far between.  Arch Enemy Arts is the perfect stop on your art stroll to find anything from lowbrow, representational, pop surrealism to urban architectural photo-realism.  Join us at our CRAZYSEXYCOOL Costume workshop on March 21st to tour their March showcase.  Can’t make the workshop?? MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS:

Dana Pavlichko is a Graphic and Interactive Designer working in Philadelphia. Residing in South Philadelphia, she spends her free time illustrating, crafting, and playing bocce. As a member of the KKSD’s “Don’t be Such a Drag…” for three years and running, and she has only fallen in the mud pit twice! Glitter is another one of her hobbies.

Stephanie Davis is an award-winning artist who lives in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. She is a member of the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym, where she works with fire and metal to create wearable art. In 2012, her dreams came true when she started the “Don’t be Such a Drag…” team for the KKSD. Since then, her team has hot glued their way to victory in the ‘Best Costume’ category for three years running.

Claire Folkman is an artist living and working in Philadelphia, PA. She creates out of Mercer Street Studios in Fishtown, where she works on her nationally exhibited collages, comics and costumes. She is Co-Editor of the all-girl comic anthology ‘Dirty Diamonds’, which has been archived in the Library of Congress. Claire is also an emeritus member of the ‘Don’t Be Such a Drag…’ KKSD Team, which is the reigning champion of the ‘Best Costume’ category for the past three years.

THE AFTER-PARTY:

This bar looks more like a courthouse or a bank from the outside, but inside National Mechanics is serving Philadelphia Brewing Co. in style!  Come mingle with other derby-hopefuls and enjoy some drink specials (22 S 3rd St 3:30-5:30PM)!  $1 off pints and $2 off pitchers of Kenzinger!
