Wisdom Series: Dealing with Barriers in a Neutral World | 6-8 pm

Many people feel the pace of modern life is extremely quick. Rushing from place to place, it can be hard to take the time to develop lasting connections with anyone. Everywhere we go it seems that people don’t care one way or another for us. We all long to overcome barriers and actually bond with people, but is it possible to be truly connected in such an impersonal world? Come hear what the Bhagavad Gita and the other great yoga texts have to say and enjoy an awesome vegan dinner.

Branden Eastwood is a Philadelphia based documentary photographer and video journalist. He spent 2 years living and working in Indonesia and considers himself a recovering travel junkie. His work focuses on justice and the daily lives of interesting and not so interesting people.

@brandeneastwood

——————————————

The question ‘where’ve you been?’ is constantly running through my head when I’m photographing a stranger. Where’ve you been this morning or years before that led to this moment? How have those places influenced you and your judgement of this moment? I want my photos to answer the question for both the people in them and for myself decades in the future.

Thematically I’m drawn to moments of work and play which feeds into my fascination with how cultures interact with animals and each other. In these images a question lingers about the appropriate level of critique and participation from an outsider such as myself. These relationships of work and play alongside questions of how animals either animate or disarticulate a sense of humanity are fundamental to this exhibit.
