Arts Business Spotlight: Made & Maker

A newcomer to the boutique scene on Frankford Ave, Made and Maker is a well-curated selection of vintage finds and unique designs focusing on clothes, shoes, housewares, jewelry and other artwork.  Need a pair of roller skates?  How about hand-made mittens from a reservation outside Vancouver?  A pink velvet romper?  They have it all!

There’s much more to this boutique than meets the eye.  Founders Eilidh and Michelle met like most makers do, serving brunch.  The idea of Made and Maker, before it even had a name, came from their desire to make and hoard beautiful things while simultaneously selling and gifting them.  Many items in their shop are consignment pieces from local artists as well.  They are interested in helping other makers achieve their dreams, through offering consignment opportunities at a reasonable rate for artists, and hopefully launching a communal workspace for artists, newbies, and hobbyists alike to create together, get feedback, learn new things, or just meet like-minded people.  Humility and affordability are huge parts of their business model.  You can find items in the store for any price range, and these ladies are extremely approachable.  I recommend stopping in even just for great snacks and conversation!

Made and Maker is located at 2021 Frankford ave and open Tuesday-Sunday from 6-10PM with more weekend hours coming soon.  Stop in to find something that’s fun, quirky, and has a story, anything really!
